Housing regulator judgement
In April 2024, new regulations for consumer standards were introduced for local authorities by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).
These standards emphasise decent homes, tenant safety, tenant engagement and transparency and place a duty on landlords to highlight any areas of non-compliance to the Regulator.
Earlier this year, the Council was inspected by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).
What grade have we been given?
We have been given a C4 rating which means the regulator has found serious failings in the way its housing is managed and fundamental changes need to be made. You can read the judgement on the GOV.uk website.
What happens now?
We have developed an improvement plan to ensure we can make the changes needed. We will continue to have intensive engagement with RSH and will need to provide evidence that assures RSH sufficient change and progress is being made.
What changes are we making?
- Reviewing compliance, systems and data and commissioning support to make improvements.
- Putting plans in place to increase tenant engagement.
- Undertaking a stock condition survey.
- Taking a more proactive approach to responsive repairs.
- Reviewing performance indicators and tenant satisfaction measures.
- Identifying more training and development for staff.
- Improving complaint handling.
Help us to improve our housing services
We want everyone to have a say in shaping our future, whether it’s sharing ideas, giving feedback, or working together to improve local services.
We have a Residents’ Forum, which is an opportunity for all tenants and leaseholders to meet and discuss issues that affect everyone.
Share your views in the Tenant Satisfaction Survey
The Regulator of Social Housing in England has introduced a set of 22 Tenant Satisfaction Measures to help assess landlord performance in delivering safe, high quality homes and services.
We measure our performance using an annual Tenant Satisfaction Survey. This is an opportunity for residents to share their views on how well we’re meeting their needs and delivering key services. This year's survey will launch later this year.
