Whistleblowing Policy

Tandridge District Council is committed to the highest possible standards of openness, probity, and accountability. committed to openness, probity and accountability. In line with this commitment we expect employees, and others that we deal with, who have serious concerns about any aspect of our work to come forward and voice those concerns. This process is commonly referred to as whistleblowing.

We have a whistleblowing policy to make sure employees, contractors working with us on our premises, suppliers, those providing services under a contract with us in their own premises, Councillors and members of the public feel confident and are able to raise concerns and to question and act upon concerns.

Raise a whistleblowing claim

Before raising a whistle-blowing claim, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Is it legal?
  • Does it contravene professional codes of practice?
  • Is it against Government guidelines?
  • Is it a breach of the councillors' code of conduct?
  • Is it about one individual’s behaviour or general working practices?
  • Have you witnessed the incident?
  • Did anyone else witness the incident at the same time?

If you work for the Council, you should raise matters through your line manager or head of service in accordance with the Council's whistleblowing policy.
